While Mercury is the closest planet to the sun it is Venus that is the hottest planet in the Solar System. This is due to the greenhouse effect caused by the dense clouds on the planet. Venus has another peculiar feature in that it has been tipped upside-down. The Axis tilt is only 2.6° short of a complete 180° flip most likely due to a large planetary

Venus has another peculiar feature in that it has been tipped upside-down. While the axis tilt of Earth is 23.27°, the axis tilt of Venus is 177.4° which is almost a complete flip. It could be said that Venus spins in in the opposite direction to all other planets with only a 2.6° tilt, however science points towards a catastrophic collission early in the life of the Solar System which turned venus upsidedown. It is also the only Plant whose day, the time it takes to turn entirely on it’s own axis, is longer than it’s year (the time it takes for it to complete an orbit of the sun)

It is also the only Plant whose day — the time it takes to turn entirely on its own axis — is longer than its year — the time it takes for it to complete an orbit of the sun.

The cause of this is thought to be a huge impact upon venus that shook the planet and flipped it around to spin clockwise
